Words Have Power
This morning, I am reminded of the power that words have. Through my choice of words today, I can choose to be a blessing to others by offering a kind word. Just as I appreciate it when a person opens a door for me, I can open a bigger door, the door to a person’s heart, by wishing a stranger, God’s best. It’s easier than opening a physical door, not that we shouldn’t do that too, but a kind word lasts much longer than someone just walking through a door we opened for them.
There is another form of word power and that is, a word of encouragement. Barnabas in the New Testament was known for his ability to encourage others by his speech. To do that, we need to be good observers and listeners. We can tell when our friends have become discouraged or doubtful in their journey through life. Dear friends have come beside me and encouraged me when I was feeling scared, doubtful, or discouraged. The power of a few encouraging words at the right time can change how a person’s day goes or more.
Many of us read these words daily, Follow Jesus Today. One way we can do that is by knowing every word that comes out of our mouth has power to bless and encourage others.
The greatest “word power” is God’s Word. It has the power to change a person’s life for eternity.
