Day 57
Read: Leviticus 27:1-34 and then Numbers 1:1-54
In today’s reading God is transitioning Israel from receiving law to organized action. While Leviticus focuses on honoring vows and recognizing God’s ownership of all things, Numbers focuses on organizing, counting, and preparing consecrated people for God’s purposes. Both readings highlight God’s holiness and demand for dedicated service.
God asks us to hold our possessions loosely and be willing to offer our time, talents, and resources to Him. Our “yes” should mean “yes” when we vow to serve Him. Our mindset should be one that is holy with intentional dedication.
Are you following through on commitments you have made to God?
Do you treat your money, time, and skills as yours or God’s?
God instructs Moses to count the people. This is a pivotal moment because the census is not just for records, but also to organize Israel for their mission and placing them under the banner of God’s glory. God counts “head by head,” indicating that He knows you individually and has a specific place for you in His service. Just as every Israelite was counted, God has a purpose for you in His army.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the grace of Your word, which guides us in life. I want to be wholly devoted to You, just as these chapters call for. Help me to surrender my possessions, my time, and my plans to You. Help me to know and acknowledge that everything I have is Yours. Organize my life and use me for Your purposes. Amen.
