Never Abandoned
When we went to visit our daughter in Oklahoma, I was amazed at the number of stray dogs that roamed her neighborhood. I asked her about all the homeless dogs running around. She said it was common for people to just abandon their dogs.
One evening while my wife and she were driving somewhere in the car. They came upon a stray dog that had been abandoned, was starving to death, and would not move from the center of the road. My wife, the animal lover she is, stopped and opened the door. The dog jumped in the car. It was blind in one eye. You could count every rib on it.
Until the day she died every time we had to put her in the car to take her anywhere, Aussie would cry for fear of being abandoned again. She never forgot being abandoned. It’s a powerful emotion!
Have you felt the emotion of being abandoned? Feeling rejected, left behind, unloved, or passed over brings on those emotions. At such times we wonder, who can we trust?
Aussie would never be abandoned again when we took her into our family. She found her forever home. Her safety and security became our responsibility. When God adopts us into His family, we never have to worry about being abandoned again. We have found our forever, safe and secure home.
“For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” Hebrews 13:5-6 NKJV
