Anchors
Every boat must have one. Without one you will not be able to stay in one spot on the water. Instead, you will be blown in whatever direction the wind is going. One day you could be blown to the north and the next to the south.
That is what happens to many people in this world. Without purpose, values and morals to anchor them they drift aimlessly through life. Whatever fad or new movement comes along they go in that direction. In the 60’s it was the Hippies. They were anti-establishment and all for peace and love. Bell bottoms were popular. You get the idea.
Jesus Christ is the believer’s anchor in life. He keeps us safe when the storms of life want to blow us away from safety. He gives us stability when the waves of doubt or anxiety crash around us. He shows us the way when Satan wants to blow us off course. Not only is Jesus our anchor today but for all eternity. He is our secure, immovable Hope.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,” Hebrews 6:19 NIV
