A New Heart
I remember the time when heart transplants were rare. Now organ transplants are common, and the success rate has improved dramatically. If our heart was failing and we were healthy enough to receive a new one, who wouldn’t want to go there. We thank God for modern advances in medicine.
Every person that is born needs a new heart, a spiritual heart. Because God is the one doing the transplanting, He will never run out. Some people die of heart attacks because they were never aware their heart was failing them. Many people are walking around today, unaware that they need a spiritual heart transplant because their natural heart is failing them. That’s where we come in. We are God’s messengers in this world, alerting all who will listen that God is ready to give to anyone who asks, a new heart.
Here is what is so exciting. God does not go into our hearts and fix the old one, like replacing a worn our valve. He gives us a brand-new heart and we become a new creation. Oh, we still have our sin nature that must be dealt with, but we now have the ability to see sin, the world, and ourselves differently than before. That only happens because God has given us a new heart.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26 NIV
