Overwhelmed
Have you ever felt overwhelmed? There is so much on your plate that you cannot imagine how you are going to get everything done!
That produces way too much anxiety and is not good for the blood pressure either. When those moments creep up, I try to take a step back, get perspective, and talk to God about what lies ahead.
This is what He tells me. First, He tells me do not be anxious. Ok, I get that, but there must be more to it than just telling you, not to be anxious. How is everything going to get done on time?
He then tells me to consider Jesus. Jesus understands what fear, anxiety and stress are about. When He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He struggled with what He was about to go through. His stress level rose to the point where He was near death, sweating drops of blood.
Wow, after reflecting on what the stressors were in Jesus’ life and what they are in my life I have so much to be thankful for. It could be so much worse.
What is the worst that could happen if everything did not get done on time in comparison to what would have happened if Jesus did not go through what was ahead of Him. Jesus found strength in the Father to face what was before Him and so can we. Consider Jesus, lift your hand up to the Father in prayer, and trust God. He cares!
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NIV
