There are moments in life, where you just know God’s hand of protection was upon you. One vacation in Kenya I visited a tiny island in the Indian Ocean called Lamu. Check it out. It is rich in history. I boarded a dhow and travelled about 2 miles to a smaller island to visit some ancient ruins.
While I was walking around, I saw this beautiful small green snake in a tree. I instinctively reached out to touch it, but something made me pull my hand back. Later I learned it was a poisonous snake. Thank you, Jesus, for watching over me.
The road between Lamu and Mombasa was a long, lonely, and dusty ride. Before leaving Lamu for Mombasa I heard there were robbers being encountered along that road. I remember asking God for safety.
In the middle of nowhere, I noticed a bus was pulled over and people were getting out. Seconds later, I knew why. Armed robbers with AK47 rifles were looting the bus.
One stepped out from behind the bus with a rifle and motioned for me to stop. I was just a couple feet from him. We looked each other in the eye and for some strange reason he motioned for me to leave. I left as fast as a 4cylinder VW van could go. I wonder what was going through his mind that made him let me go? Thank you, Jesus, for watching over me.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 NIV
Roman Cheslock says
Thank you Jesus…indeed Amen! You’ve been an important part of so many lives, over there and here. And you will continue to be, no doubt!
Paul D Smith says
I heard a comment recently where someone said, “You are immortal until the day God calls you home.”
