A Black Bird or a Grackle
I have been with a friend, and we spotted a large number of birds that were black in color. My friend said look at all those blackbirds. I said those just aren’t birds that happen to be black, they are grackles.
We both saw the same scene but saw things differently. Why? For him all birds that are black in color are simply blackbirds. For me when I see a bird that is black, it could be a red-wing blackbird, a European starling, a cowbird, or either a common or boat-tailed grackle. Some birds like the Blue Jay are totally black but we “see” them as blue.
How can two people “see” the same thing yet see it so differently. That reminds me of how we think we see things accurately but may only be “seeing” a part of something much bigger.
We “see” creation around us, but do we really see what is going on? We think we “see” but we really don’t. Protons, neutrons and electrons are whirling around inside everything we see.
We “see” God in so many ways every day. We see Him in creation, our spouses, and friends. But what we see is only a dim image of who God is. Are you ready? Sit down.
One day we will “see” God as He “sees” us!
“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV
