The Storm Isn’t Over
Springtime is the time when seasons change. We leave winter behind and anticipate warmer weather soon. However, with the change in weather comes spring storms. This spring is no different. One day it can be nice and sunny. The next day, an ice storm breaks down trees and leaves people without power. The sun can come out the next day to give us hope of warmer days, only to be followed by several inches of snow later in the week. Folks in the southern part of our country face severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, often one round of bad weather after another.
Weathering them requires preparation. In preparation for power outages, I fill the tub with water and make sure we have several gallons of drinking water. When tornado warnings are given, we go to a safe place in our home, far from windows. The next storm of some sort is just around the corner. We must be prepared for what comes next.
Friends, rest assured, the storms of life are not over. I was sure that once we became empty nesters the storms of raising a family would be over. As all of us empty nesters know, that is not so.
The Word of God is clear that in this life we will face one storm after another. They come in different forms and severity. Our objective is to be prepared to face them when they come. We do that by staying close to God on our journey. God is our “safe place.”
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19 NKJV
