Day 43
Read: Exodus 35:1 – 36:38
Today’s reading emphasizes that true worship stems from a willing heart, where God’s people serve with joy rather than obligation. Today we read about a community moved by gratitude, giving generously of their skills and resources to build the Tabernacle.
Following the incident of the golden calf, the Israelites’ response to building the Tabernacle is a profound testament to grace in action. They didn’t bring their gold, silver, and skills out of obligation, but as a joyful response to God’s mercy and renewed covenant.
Is your service or giving done out of routine or from a heart truly moved by gratitude for what God has done?
The recurring theme in today’s chapters is the “willing heart” (Exodus 35:22, 29). The people didn’t just give; they were enthusiastic! Their generosity was so great that Moses actually had to ask them to stop giving because they had provided more than enough (Exodus 36:6-7).
What unique skills has God equipped you with to serve His kingdom?
Work should never precede rest. Before the building even began, God reiterated the Sabbath rest through Moses (Exodus 35:2-3). Our service to God should come from a place of resting in His finished work, not from trying to earn His favor.
When you rest, do you acknowledge that your value is not just in what you produce, but in who you are in Him?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your grace that restores. Create in me a willing heart, not just to give, but to serve You with all my heart, soul, and skills. May my life be a joyful generous offering to You. Amen.
