Human Choices & God’s Promises

How can we discern where God’s primary work for us lies amidst other responsibilities?

Even before birth, God declared Jacob would rule Esau (Gen 25:23). How does this divine election interact with Esau’s foolish choice? Does it diminish our responsibility for our decisions, or highlight the urgency of making right choices?
