In today’s reading, we see the contrasting destinies of Isaac & Jacob vs. Ishmael & Esau. The tension between God’s promises and human choices.
Read: Genesis 25:1-4 ; 1 Chronicles 1:32-33 ; Genesis 25:5-6, 12-18; 1 Chronicles. 1:28-31, 34 ; Genesis 25:19-26, 7-11
Reflect:
Consider your own daily choices about valuing eternal promises over immediate gratification.
How can we discern where God’s primary work for us lies amidst other responsibilities?
Even before birth, God declared Jacob would rule Esau (Gen 25:23). How does this divine election interact with Esau’s foolish choice? Does it diminish our responsibility for our decisions, or highlight the urgency of making right choices?
