The Best is Yet to Come
When I was a child, I remember as I was eating my meal the best was yet to come. My mom had some fresh baked dessert that she would bring to the table once we had finished eating. I looked forward to seeing what it might be. It could be chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake, chocolate brownies, or carrot cake. Guess what? The best was yet to come, and I knew what that was. Almost every evening we would sit around and end the day with a dish of, you guessed it, ice cream. We got to choose our toppings and for me it was, you guessed it, chocolate syrup with nuts and crushed soda crackers on top. Can you believe I only weighed 125 pounds when I left high school. I was tall and skinny.
Many people living today look at this world, and say to themselves, this is the best things will ever be. That must be so depressing. Others of us, who know Jesus, look at this world and tell ourselves, this is the worst things will ever be. We know “The Best is Yet to Come.”
Friends, Jesus waits for His children to join Him in heaven. He has a place prepared for us to live; mortgage free for eternity. I place where no upkeep or cleaning will ever be required. What we are going to eat, will never be a question. As much as we look forward to that part of eternity, “The Best is Yet to Come.” We get to be with Jesus!
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4 NIV
