Stop Earning Love
Have you ever felt like you needed to earn someone’s love? Like, you need to act a certain way so people will like you or approve of you. Or I am not good enough to be loved. We have all probably fallen into that trap at one time or another.
God’s love for you and me is unconditional. He loves us despite our sin and shame. He loves us right where we are at. We need to let that soak into the fabric of our being. There is nothing we can do to make God love us more!
That does not mean God wants us to stay like we are. There is an expectation from God that we will change. He does want us to become more like Jesus in our thoughts, actions, and word choices. His love empowers us and encourages us to change.
God’s unconditional love helps us feel safe so we can come to Him openly and honestly. He is not going to love us less if we tell Him our sins. He is going to forgive us of our sins and cleanse our souls. God know we are not perfect, and He still love us.
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” 1 John 4:16 NIV
