A Child is Born
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Most likely all of us have seen Christmas cards with this verse on. For unto us, the world, a Child is born. Jesus took on human form. He wasn’t born in a palace fit for a king. But rather in a humble stable used to house animals. Unto us a Son is given, God gave His Son for you and me. How personal He is to want a relationship with us. The government will be upon His shoulder. Do you long for real justice in this fallen world? Take heart. One day Jesus will reign in perfect justice forever. And His name will be called Wonderful. Compare this to the world religions whose god you cannot know or ever hope to satisfy. We have a God who is wonderful. Counselor. Do you need wise council? Jesus understands your personal problems and will guide you personally in the way to go. Mighty God, Everlasting Father. There are no limits to His greatness and He is forever. Prince of Peace. Do you need peace today? He is our Peace. Peace and reconciliation through Jesus death on the cross. And peace because we can trust Him with every problem we face.
This season of Christmas it is my prayer our hearts would be in peace as we reflect on the greatest gift ever given. Our Saviour Jesus Christ. What a mighty God we serve.
