It’s Only Temporary
I remember when I was in grade school. It would be Saturday morning and I would look outside and see a fresh snowfall that fell overnight, the type of snow that was perfect for making snowmen. All the neighborhood kids would get together and we would make a giant snowman. We would put a scarf around its neck, coal for buttons, and a carrot for a nose. The black buttons made from coal were the first to fall. However, in some form it lasted until spring- melt. But, it was only temporary.
My daughter and son-in-law took a trip recently to a desert in Texas. They found an abandoned mining town that had fallen into ruin. The dream of striking it rich was only temporary. Whatever we see around us, all of it is only temporary. I think many live hoping it is permanent.
What is seen is temporary but what is not seen is eternal. One day we will get to see that which never fades away. One day we will see the Glory of God! How awesome will that be! One day we will enter the eternal state which will never pass away. Oh yes. This body we see in the mirror everyday is only temporary. One day we will receive a new body that will be imperishable.
In the mean time let us live by the teaching of Romans 12:2 “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
