His Plans
Have you ever felt your life was in a standstill going nowhere, your life purpose, un-accomplished? I was there thirty years ago. Our children were grown and my dad, a military man had just died. I was feeling like “what is left, what now, Lord is my life over?” Not only had I lost my beloved father, but the military heritage I loved seemed to vanish with him. What could I do to honor him for all the years he had served his country and blessed me with this unique heritage?
It was the season for the movie “Platoon” and as I watched it my heart was broken at the tragedy of that war. I began to understand how it had affected my dad and all other vets when they returned home. I prayed, “Lord, I know it is too late to help any of those young men and women that had lost their life in Viet Nam, but how can I help this generation?”
Two days later I received a phone call from a friend asking me if I would be interested in working as a counselor for the EAA Air Academy. You guessed it, the next generation of military , pilots, and leaders.
God was faithful in honoring my prayer. He has blessed this ministry and for the past 30 summers I have had the privilege of proclaiming His works and sharing His love with hundreds of young adults, many who have served our country and given their lives to Him.
I challenge you to seek the Lord with all your heart, in Jeremiah 29:11 the Lord tells you “the plans I have for you are plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” Don’t give up because you feel you are not going anywhere, get on your knees, pour out your heart to Him and if you are a writer, pick up your pen and write your story for His glory.
