WHITE AS SNOW
I live in a house with white siding and I’m usually always happy with the appearance and how it looks. That is, until a new snowfall. Monday morning God gave us another winter wonderland. I looked out my window at 7 am and was blown away by the beauty. Pine trees decorated with the touch of the new fallen snow as only the Creator can do. Shimmering diamonds caught my eye as the sun glistened to show off more of His handiwork. I said out loud to myself, wow it’s so beautiful. An hour later I was out walking and could see just how dirty my white siding was against the fresh snow.
I was reminded then of the verse Isaiah 1:18. God is making a plea to His people to wholeheartedly return to Him and His ways. “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”
How gracious of God to use something we can all relate to. I think my house looks so clean and white until I have the fresh snow to compare it too. Spiritually, I think my heart, action, words are okay until I hold it up to what God’s standards are for me. Like my white siding looks dingy against the pristine snow does my heart hold attitudes, thoughts not pleasing to You Lord? Oh, Gracious God, I need you every day and every hour to walk out this life. I can never come to perfection on this earth; but I will rejoice knowing You are leading me in the way of perfection. Thank You Lord for Your Word to guide us and remind us You take our scarlet sins and make them as white as snow.
