How are you feeling today? You may be lonely, or feel the dread of another mundane week. You may have lost the joy of the Lord. You feel overwhelmed or trapped. Many Christians feel confused when they experience the same problems as before their accepting Christ as their personal Savior. Many are discouraged and bogged down in life’s cares. The truth that both the Old and New Testaments treat this problem equally shows that God knows problems and worries are bound to happen in this life. He gives the same solutions in both the Old and New Testaments.
- In Psalm 55:22 He says, “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.”
- In 1 Peter 5:7 He said, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
Both verses share the same truths: God will sustain us, He will never let us fail, and He cares for us. God declares that He is willing and able to be our strength and support – mentally, physically, and emotionally. He is willing and able to take everything that threatens to overwhelm us and use it for our benefit. He has promised to “work all things together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Even when we doubt him, He is working for our good and His glory. And importantly…He has promised that He will allow no trial to be so great we cannot beat it in the power of Christ and that He will provide a means of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). By this, He means that He will not let us fail, as he promised in Psalm 55:22.
God is bigger than any of our problems and worries. Everyone suffers from difficulties, because the Bible teaches us that “temptation” is common. Satan will try and tell us that our problems are our fault. But none of our sins are so heavy that God can’t lift them from us and throw them into the deepest sea. (Psalm 103:11-12). In reality, feelings come from thoughts, so, even though we can’t change how we feel, we can change how we think. So each day, take one step at a time, and pray for God’s Word to guide us and meditate on God’s Word when the problems , worries, and anxieties of life come along. Our responsibility is to learn to trust and rely on Him, and not ourselves.
“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”. Joshua 1:9 NIV

A word from Sandy….. when Pastor Paul asked me to continue his blogs while on vacation, I welcomed the opportunity to go back to his first blogs from a year ago. I chose some blogs, and added my touch, as well as my artwork. When I was studying for this blog, I saw that Pastor Paul spoke on Trust on June 30. I am linking the sermon here. It is really excellent!
