Special Company is Coming
Today is a special day in the Smith household. Monika’s two sisters and stepfather, her dad was killed in the war, are coming to visit. What makes it extra special is the effort each family member is making to come. Otto moved from Germany to Brazil. Cornelia moved from Germany to Pennsylvania and Judith is coming from Germany. Each one has travelled a great distance to be able to spend time together as family. Those times are precious.
A lot of work has gone into preparing for their arrival. The house has gotten cleaned to another level. The beds all have freshly washed sheets on them. Special food has been purchased.
They all speak English but German in their mother tongue. Out of consideration to me they will attempt to speak English in front of me. However, before long they will slip into speaking German, and I will just listen.
Jesus is coming to visit us, or we will go to visit Him. Unlike Monika’s family, we don’t know when He will be arriving, but we need to be ready to meet Him. What a meeting that will be. When family comes to visit, joy fills our hearts. That joy turns to pain as we say our goodbyes, wondering if and when we will get together again. When we meet Jesus, it will be forever. No good-byes, only joy!
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:3 NIV
So great for the both of you. Blessings in your time together.
Paul, I want to thank you also for mentioning and praying for Israel as you started Sunday service. I am so disappointed in the pastors who don’t pray for Israel and it’s as if they have no idea we are grafted in. I feel we owe the Jewish people. Bible believing Christians should be the Jews best friend but…one of the main reasons I left the church I was in. So thank you so much for your words. May God be with you and Monica.
Thanks for the comment. I am looking forward to hearing your testimony. I am sure your story will inspire others in their walk with God. God Bless. Pastor Paul
