A Lesson Learned
How many times have we told ourselves some of the following? You cannot please everyone. It is not essential that everyone agrees with you or likes you. Money will not solve all your problems. I have lived in areas where people have material possessions in abundance and are miserable. You don’t always get what you want. All of us have dreams about how we want our journey to go. We want our life to look a certain way. However, our actual journey looks quite different, even unrecognizable at times.
There are spiritual lessons to be learned on our journey. I learned one last night. One of our cats got out about 7pm. Usually Patches would come back in, within minutes. Last night was different. It got dark, racoons were at the door she went out, wanting to be fed. I eventually went to bed, but Monika sat by the door waiting for her to come back. I prayed fervently for Patches to come back in.
I could not understand why my prayers were going unanswered. At 1:05am Monika finally came to bed. She informed me Patches finally came in. With excitement in her voice Monika told me she had decided to pray. Within minutes of her praying, Patches came in. The lesson I learned is that sometimes God does not answer our prayers because He wants the person in need to also pray so when the prayer is answered He gets the glory from everyone! Don’t just ask people to pray for you. Pray yourself.
“To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Philippians 4:20 NIV
