Game Changer
If you are into sports, there are usually one or two plays during the course of a game that will determine its outcome. In football, it could be returning a kickoff for a touchdown. In baseball, it could be hitting that grand slam homerun.
There are usually one or two huge events along our journey that alter the trajectory of our lives. Our world gets turned upside down overnight. It could be a health issue, an accident, death of a parent or spouse, starting over in a new city, retirement, or war. When we encounter one or more of those “game changers” our lives are upended.
For me on the worldly level it was a priest, the Peace Corps, and a fox among several others. From the spiritual side of things, it was a missionary, the Holy Spirit, and God’s Word. I would not be where I am today if it were not for “all” of the above. God through His Word was the real “game changer” in my life. My view of myself, others, and the world have all been drastically altered due to His Word. That has led me to seminary, missions, and now pastoring.
How has God’s Word changed your life and your world? How do we affect our world? Does the world change us, or do we change our world? It’s worth thinking about!
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
