A Path to Joy and Contentment
When I was in my teenage and college years, I was sure I knew everything. I cannot tell you how many times I told my parents just that. They would tell me drinking too much was bad. Don’t hang around with the wrong group, they will get you into trouble. In one ear and out the other. You have probably been told many of these same sorts of things. Did you listen when they said smoking is bad for you, do it right the first time and you won’t have to do it again, or watch what comes out of your mouth? Just think how much happier life could have been by following wise advice.
God’s Word speaks to these same issues. God desires that our lives be filled with joy and contentment. Here is some advice He gives. Don’t listen to how the world tells you to be happy. Don’t do what the world tells you to do to be happy. Choose your friends wisely. Don’t talk like the world, watch every word that comes out of our mouth. Read and follow God’s Word. No one gives better advice than God on how to find peace, joy, and contentment.
“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around with sinners, scoffing at the things of God. 2 But they delight in doing everything God wants them to, and day and night are always meditating on his laws and thinking about ways to follow him more closely.” Psalm 1:1-2 TLB
Makes sense to me.
