Unmovable
Certain objects can be seen as unmovable. When we go into many churches, pews are carefully placed in rows. We cannot move the pews to where we would like them to be. They are fixed with screws to the floor and are not intended to be moved.
I have been on a lake, in a small boat that became very movable in a storm. I was tossed up and down and from side to side. It was scary, so much so, if Jesus were asleep in the boat, I would have woken Him up.
On our journey through life the Bible says we need to be more like pews than boats. Our minds need to be unmovable. It is important to know what the Bible says and then believe it. Many people journey through life without knowing what they believe. Not knowing what we believe is like being in a boat, in a violent storm, being tossed around. We are at the mercy of the waves. As the end of times approaches the Bible tells us the waves will be huge. All the more reason to know what we believe, so our journey will be smooth.
Our hope in the Lord needs to be unmovable, like a boat anchor. That hope is rock solid. It is based on God’s character and the Word of God. Neither can be changed.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Hebrews 6:19a NIV
