Celebrate
We celebrate certain days of the year, New Years Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas. There are reasons we take those days off from work and celebrate. We have personal days we celebrate during every year, anniversaries and birthdays.
That’s cool to be able to celebrate a few days out of every year but are there more? In Philippians Paul tells the followers of Jesus to celebrate every day, every moment of their lives, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” We know why we celebrate July 4th but are there reasons to rejoice and celebrate every day? The answer is a resounding, yes. We just need to stop and think.
God tells us whatever happens to us today will work out for our good. What is there not to celebrate about that. We are a new creation in Christ. He has forgiven our sins and our final destination is heaven. What is there not to celebrate about that. Whenever we are lonely or anxious we can talk to God, one on one, who understands our every need. What is there not to celebrate about that. He has given us His Spirit so that when we face really tough times His internal presence will bring great comfort. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For Thou art with me;” What is there not to celebrate about that. Stop and think about other reasons from God’s Word why we have reason to celebrate this day.
“This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 NIV
