Wanting the Best
I have five cats, one dog, and four sheep to care for. I know it sounds like a lot and it is, but they are part of the family. I buy the best food I can afford, give them the best living conditions possible, and make sure they get individual attention. I want the very best for each of them.
My wife, Monika, just returned from spending time in Germany. She went to visit her sister whom she had not seen in years. When sisters are separated by such great distances, each trip matters. I wanted her to have the best visit and experience possible. I prayed that the flights would be on time, and her health would remain good. Above all I prayed they would have quality time together. Monika came back exhausted, but the trip was memorable.
As a pastor, I want the very best for the flock that God has allowed me to shepherd. I want the worship experience to bring their hearts closer to God. I want to share God’s Word clearly so they can grow in the knowledge of God. I want each to know the love and peace of God in their hearts. I want God’s best. This is my prayer.
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19 NIV
