They Sent Them Off
We had a great send off for our Zambia Mission Team. When Monika and I pulled into the church parking lot at 2:30 am this morning cars were filling the parking lot. We were taken back but thrilled. The team had a sleepover at the church which was amazing. It was such a blessing to see the enthusiasm of the team as they loaded their 18 large suitcases plus handbags into the large van. We prayed one final time with them and sent them off. Just heard from the team that the bags are checked in, they cleared security, and are waiting to board their flight. At least one team member has never been to an airport before. Most have never been out of the country and only the team leaders have been on an overseas mission’s trip. They are the first group we have sent out from our church.
The emerging church at Antioch had a similar experience. It must have been such an amazing moment for them as they sent out their first mission team. While our team knows what they will be doing almost every hour of every day, the first mission team did not. Here is the exciting part though. The same Holy Spirit that empowered that first team is empowering the team we sent out. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
“So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” Acts 13:3 NIV
