When bad things happen to good people does that mean God has failed us?
Let’s think of it this way. When I was first invited out to eat at a neighbor’s one room mud home in Sarab Saeed it was a learning experience. There was no furniture in the home. There was no room for furniture. There were 4 children and two adults who ate, slept and did everything else a family does in that one room. They made me feel welcomed. There was no electricity, so we ate by lantern light.
We all sat on the floor around a large plastic cloth and then the food came. We were each served a portion of rice that would serve an entire family in the states. They eat huge quantities of rice with their meals.
I forced myself to eat all the rice they put in front of me. I was raised to finish everything that was on my plate. Well, every time I finished what was on my plate, they put more on it. I later learned that if you did not want more, you had to leave some uneaten food on your plate.
It reminds me that God is always our never-ending portion. We may not know “the why” certain things happen the way they do but we know “The God”. Knowing Him is more than enough. Nothing can separate us from His never-ending love!
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26 NIV
