Getting perspective can be difficult at times. That is especially so when things are not going according to plan.
Last week I had great plans to get a lot of things done this week. Well, Saturday night, I came down with some kind of flu bug/stomach virus. It was not pretty. Only by the grace of God was I able to preach on Sunday.
I have basically been useless so far this week as I try and recover from what made me ill. I tell myself this too will pass. I need to keep things in perspective. Whatever bug I caught, though very annoying and disruptive, is only temporary.
The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians, that while things on this earth may seem unbearable at times, it is only temporary. Soon it will pass, and eternity awaits us. So, if things are not going as planned for you remember what matters is not, what we can see but what we cannot see.
Father, help me to maintain a spiritual focus when the material world around me crumbles. Whatever I am experiencing now is only temporary. Give me eyes to see the unseen! Amen
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NIV
