I remember as a young boy my parents taking me to a site where a powerful tornado had just gone through. Thick cement block walls were toppled over and reduced to rubble. Then my dad walked me over to a broken telephone pole and pointed out a piece of straw that had pierced hardened wood like an arrow. That one piece of straw was not even bent in the slightest. I cannot see the air, but I could observe its power. Air put in motion can do amazing things.
I cannot see grace, but I know it is real because I can observe its effects in Christian’s lives. When grace is at work in a person’s life it too can unleash amazing power. Grace encourages. Grace loves the unlovable. Grace allows us to forgive our enemies. Grace allows us to give generously. Grace allows us to look beyond outward appearances. Grace changes us and makes us who we are.
Father, I understand that without your grace, I am nothing. May I allow your grace to shine in my life so others can see Jesus! May your grace be with me. Amen.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV
