If your clothes closet looks like mine it needs some sorting out. My wife may see something she thinks will look good on me and she brings it home. I do the same, but less frequently. I am thankful she makes sure I dress properly and wear matching colors.
No matter who buys the clothes, the result is the same. More clothes are added, and none get donated. Before one realizes it, little room is left for additional clothes. I can only wear so much.
My life can resemble my clothes closet if I am not careful. At times I can allow so much extra stuff in my life that there is no time left for the important matters, like prayer and Bible reading. Oh, I still take time to read my Bible and pray, but my mind is cluttered with all the things that need to get done the rest of the day. I find it hard to concentrate.
The Word of God tells me to be sure and take the time to get rid of old desires in my life and put on the right attitude before I begin each day.
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV
