When my sister went home to be with Jesus, it was hard. I miss her to this day. My mother did a great job mothering me and so did my sister. While my mother was more the disciplinarian, my sister was more the spoiler. Who doesn’t like getting spoiled. She even took me on dates with her and her boyfriend.
Those daily calls are no longer made. Those uninvited and spontaneous visits to her home never grew old. The candy drawer was always well stocked. Everything was always in order.
Being the younger and mischievous brother, I would rearrange the order of shoes that were always neatly lined up in the garage, next to the door leading into their home. That way she would know I had been there and still loved her in my own way.
Maybe you have a loved one that has gone home to be with Jesus. We all grieve differently, but we still grieve.
We have a blessed hope that one day we will be reunited with our loved ones in heaven. When that happens there will never be another time where we will have to say good-bye. Just think of that. Nothing will ever take our loved one from us again. Joy and reunion await us. Above all, we will finally see the one who made it all possible, Jesus!
“So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” John 16:22 NIV
