My morning routine has become very predictable. Splash some water on my face. Feed the cats who have been pestering me to get up earlier to feed them. Make some coffee for the day. Let my deaf dog Jack out, who is still sound asleep. All the commotion doesn’t bother him. Then I sit down to write this blog and do my devotions. It is not until all that is done that, I turn on the light in the bathroom, and look in the mirror.
I really don’t notice all the subtle changes that take place in my appearance daily, but changes are taking place. When I look at a picture of myself from 40 years ago, I can hardly tell it is the same person I am looking at today. My prayer is that as the outward man ages, the inward man matures to be more like Christ. It’s a journey.
Have you ever wondered how God sees each of us, I have? God says before we were born, He saw us in our mother’s womb. He says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. He sees us as someone who bears His image because we are created in His image. That changes everything about what I think about the person I am looking at in the mirror. Next time you look at yourself in a mirror pause and ask yourself. How does God see me?
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
God does not lie!
