A couple of weeks ago we went to listen to a men’s quartet. It was well worth the one-hour drive to the show. There was the lead singer, the bass, you must have that low voice, the tenor, and the baritone, which rounded out the group perfectly. I don’t know a lot about singing but I could tell they sang in perfect harmony.
If there was only the lead singer, though he was good, something would have been missing. The same goes for the other three. What makes the sound of a quartet so enjoyable to listen to is that each part compliments the other.
Marriages and families that live in harmony look one way. Each member compliments the other. Though each personality is unique they have learned that if they work together as one it is so much more enjoyable. Living in harmony makes the family unit greater than its individual parts.
God desires that the church to function in total harmony, free from jealousy, arguing, selfishness etc. That is why He gave to the church those who can sing the lead, bass, tenor, and baritone. You get the point. We all have unique gifts that God has given us. Living in harmony makes the church greater than its individual parts. Our responsibility in the church is to sing our part with all our heart and soul. That way we can bless and compliment the other parts. How beautiful, how inviting to the outside world is the church that lives in harmony with each other.
“Live in harmony with one another.” Romans 12:16 NIV
