There was a road that went alongside a mountain in Iran. If you stopped your car on one stretch of the road, it would roll uphill. I get it. Cars cannot defy gravity and roll uphill. But if you were able to go there you would be certain that you were rolling uphill. It was a perfect illusion that I could never understand.
Most of us enjoy being tricked into believing something is happening or appearing or disappearing, by a good illusionist. Who is not amazed by a plane disappearing on a runway or a tiger appearing out of thin air.
There is an illusionist who is greater than David Copperfield or Penn and Teller. He is so clever at making something appear real, that he will be able to fool all, but just a few. His name is Satan.
His illusions will grow stronger as this world comes closer to ending. In the beginning he appeared as this beautiful serpent who was able to deceive Eve into trusting his lies and eat the fruit. In the end he will appear as a dragon with seven heads and ten horns to strike fear into the hearts of mankind.
Satan wants to trick us into taking our eyes off Jesus. He wants to deceive us into believing what is true is a lie and what is a lie is truth. Be Not Deceived! “For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” 1 John 2:16 NIV
