Memories are precious to us. At times when I wake up in the middle of the night my mind is filled with memories. In fact, it is hard to fall back asleep because my mind just continues to bring up more and more memories.
One of the things that concern me as I grow older is that my memory is not what it used to be. In fact, my daughter is going to be visiting Nitro, West Virginia soon so she called me and asked. Dad, what was the address of the home where we lived while on furlough from the mission field? She wanted to see one of her childhood homes.
I told her that I had no clue what the address was. In fact, I can remember very little of what the house looked like. I told her she needed to drive around a certain part of town and look for a house on a corner lot with a one car drive-in basement on the left side. It means a lot to her, so I hope she finds it for both of us.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, witnessed amazing things in her life. Remember, after the shepherds were informed of Jesus’ birth they went and told Mary all they heard and saw. Those words became precious memories to her.
“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19 NIV
The Bible advises us to think today about what is pure, what is good, what is lovely, and what is right. Make such things part of our memories.
