When I went to live in Iran most people did not speak or understand English. When I went to a shop the owner would say something and I had no idea what he said. If I wanted something, it was a matter of pointing. When it came time to pay it was even more confusing. I would just take out some Iranian cash and let him take what he needed. I just had to trust him to take the right amount.
Have you ever wondered what it must have been like when God spoke to Moses from the burning bush? Whatever language God used; Moses understood what He said. When Jesus told Ananias to go and lay his hands on Saul so he could receive his sight, there was no confusion about what Jesus wanted him to do.
I often think if God spoke to me in a clear audible voice that I could understand I would immediately do whatever He asked of me. Isn’t that what you would do as well.
Then I thought a bit more. Every day He speaks to me in clear understandable English as I read the Bible. The message He gives is no less direct from Him to me than if He rattled my home with His thunderous voice. Listen to His voice in these words. He is telling us what will fill our lives as we trust Him.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NIV
