Have you ever hoped for something to come true? I hoped to go to Kenya as a Peace Corps Volunteer, but instead ended up in Iran. When the Peace Corps wanted to send me to Iran, I had to run to look at a map and see where Iran was. When I hoped to go to Iran as a missionary, I ended up in Kenya. Go figure. At least I knew where Kenya was.
We all have hopes and dreams of how we would like to see life unfold, but God’s plans are perfect. I was saved in Iran.
The Bible says our God is a God of hope! How awesome is that! He is the only hope we have for real joy, peace, contentment, and life everlasting. Outside of Him, our hopes are no more than dreams which may never become reality. How many people look to their spouses or things of this world to bring them joy and contentment, only to be disappointed. Somehow, we forget, no one is perfect, except God.
As we take God at His word and hope in Him to fulfill every promise, He has made to us, our hearts will be filled with joy and peace. May God fill us with supernatural, Holy Spirit empowered hope so that our hope may overflow and influence others. Who doesn’t want to be around someone who is filled with hope.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NIV
