Last night I watched a football game that was played several years ago. I remember watching the game live and it was a nail biter.
However, when I watched it this time, I could watch it in an entirely different manner. Why? Because I knew how the game would end and who would come out victorious.
As we journey through life so much happens along the way. There are touchdowns and fumbles. There are victories and defeats. When we are in the middle of it all, we can lose sight of a very important truth. As followers of Jesus, we know what the end will ultimately be like. We cannot see into the future, but we can read in God’s Word what our future will be like.
Those who know Jesus as their personal Savior will be spending eternity with Him in heaven. All the touchdowns, fumbles, victories, and defeats we experience on our journey will be in the rearview mirror. We will be living in the forever moment, where there is no time, only the present. That present moment will be filled with joy and peace in the presence of our Savior, Jesus Christ. What glory that will be.
So, friends, let us never forget, wherever we are in our journey, at the beginning or nearing the end, what awaits us at the end of it all.
“21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21 NIV
