When I replaced my old vehicle with a newer one, safety and reliability were on top of the list. It matters.
When I was younger and in missions, I could not afford much of a vehicle. In fact, a friend had a junk yard full of old vehicles and I was able to repurpose one of two from there with his help. If they broke down, it was no big deal. I was young.
Now that I am “more mature” I cannot imagine my car not starting when it is minus 35 degrees outside. My wife and I need a vehicle we can depend upon to start and take us where we need to go and keep us safe if we hit a deer.
The Bible talks much about our need for dependable spiritual transportation. Jesus Christ is the only One we can trust to transport us from this life into the next, safely. All other modes, like self-reliance and religion may last for a few thousand miles on our journey, but they will break down well before we arrive. Why? They depend on us to provide the energy and we all will eventually run out of gas.
Rest secure in Jesus. He can deliver us! What a Promise.
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” John 10:28-29 NIV
