Growing up I lived in the same house until I went off to college. It was a small house with only one bath, living room, kitchen, and my brother and I each had our own bedroom in the unheated upstairs. It was home and all I knew. When my parents bought the house, it did not have indoor plumbing. The room that later became their bedroom was originally used to store coal for the furnace.
Some of my friends came from larger houses. We often “hung out” at a friend’s house that had a pool table and ping pong table in the basement. That was cool.
Once I went off to college, I never returned to live in that house again. I have lived in many places and houses since that day. My brother still lives in the original house with his wife. Going back to visit brings back many memories. So much goes on in your home, behind closed doors.
God’s Word tells us that Jesus is preparing a place right now for us to spend eternity. That’s right! Once we get to heaven, thank the Lord, we will never have to relocate again. We will have arrived at our final destination. It will be perfect. Praise God!
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:2-3 NIV
