I remember as a young child riding down the road with my parents and seeing the occasional billboard that had a sign on it which read “For God so loved the world…” John 3:16. I thought to myself what kind of crazy person would put that on a billboard. They must belong to some kind of cult.
That summed up what my attitude was towards God’s Word. Oh, I was being taught religion, but that religion had no connection to the Bible as far as I could understand.
In college I read through the Book of Revelation. It was the first time I read from a Bible. It was interesting, but way beyond my understanding. I remind you I never missed going to church, but I never actually read from a Bible until then.
Eventually God got me into studying the Bible and that was the beginning of a journey that I am still on today. In many ways at the beginning, I was like the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. Can someone please explain to me what I am reading!
God did arrange it so someone would explain it to me. I found Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I remember my first public testimony was in a seminary chapel where I nervously but boldly got up and thanked God that for the Bible. In it we find life. Please read it daily!
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16 NIV
