Sinks are a part of every home. We wash our hands in bathroom sinks. We do our dishes in the kitchen sink. Have you ever had a leaky faucet in your house. They can be so annoying until you finally give in and fix it. I just recently had to replace the faucet in the kitchen sink because I could not get it to stop dripping.
In the Iranian village where I lived there was no running water at all. I would have loved to have had a source of clean water inside the house. Every drop of water that I used had to be hauled up on a donkey’s back from the city, about one mile away, in 10-gallon cans. Every drop of water was precious. None was to be wasted.
Picture it this way. Our lives are like faucets in our homes. The water that comes from faucets is meant to be a blessing, be it for satisfying thirst or cleaning dirty hands or dishes. Words that flow from our mouths God desires to bless and encourage others. Words that flow from our mouths are not to resemble the endless and annoying drip of a leaky faucet that never stops.
The words we use today will either be a blessing to others or annoying. May God fill our hearts to overflowing with His love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness today so that the words that come from the well of our hearts will bless the lives of those spoken to.
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38 NIV
