Have you ever been caught outside in a storm. It can be a very scary experience. Because I have been on lakes so many times, because I enjoy fishing, it was inevitable that I was going to get caught in storms while on the water. The waves pick up. Lightning flashes around you. The boat you are in is tossed up and down. I was in small boats and larger boats when this happened. It does not matter what the size of the boat is. Even large ocean liners go down in rough seas. That is what makes being caught in a storm so frightening. You are not sure if you are going to make it back to shore alive.
Jesus disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee in a boat, and they got caught in a storm. The waves came crashing onto the boat and it was filling with water faster than they could bail it out. I can identify with the panic in their voices when they woke up Jesus and informed Him, we are about to drown.
There are moments in life where we are caught in the storms of life. We feel panicky and are uncertain of our future. Maybe, that is where you are today. Remember at these moments, that when the disciples turned to Jesus, He calmed the storm. They made it back safe. Jesus is our refuge in times of panic. Only He can calm the storms of life! Turn to Him.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8 NIV
