Freedom is huge. I have lived in countries where the freedoms people enjoy are quite different than what we value. I have lived in areas where when you travel to a new area and plan on spending time there you need to register with the local police. Here in the United States, I have lived in several states and was never asked to register with the local authorities. Freedom of movement is a freedom we can easily take for granted.
With so much freedom in the United States we can lose sight of what real freedom is all about. Real freedom is not the ability to do what we want but having the power to do what God wants. A person can speak freely, drink freely, party freely, live where they want, and not be free. There is a power with chains so strong, that binds so many, called man’s nature, which takes divine power to break.
If you are reading this today and you want to know what genuine freedom feels like. If you are bound by fear, anger, addictions, pride, selfishness, greed, or whatever controls you, turn to Jesus who came to set you free.
I get it. Life is a journey and overcoming what binds us is a part of that journey. However, a person needs supernatural power to break those chains that bind us and only the Holy Spirit working in us has that kind of power. Let Him break one link of that chain at a time.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 NIV
