I knew “trust” is a powerful word but as I read God’s Word, the need to “trust in the Lord” takes on many forms. God wants me to trust Him, not just trust Him with some areas of my life but all areas.
How can I trust Him to guard my soul for eternity and not trust Him with the routine cares of each day? I am beginning to understand how big an issue trust is to God. He wants me to not only trust Him with my soul but with everything “I own.” I get it, I don’t own anything. I am a steward of everything that He has trusted me with. If He can trust me with a little, He will give me more.
He wants to trust me to be waiting for Him when He returns. When I will not be returning home until after dark, my wife leaves the outside light on to let me know she is expecting me to return and that she is glad to see I made it home safe. When Jesus returns, He is trusting me to have the light on for Him and be ready to welcome Him home.
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.” Luke 12:35-36 NIV
