The other day I had to return an item at a UPS store. The line of those returning items stretched around the inside of the store and was close to spilling outside. Granted it was January 2nd, but I never expected to see so many people returning so many items, people did not want. The line never grew shorter. As one customer was finished, a new customer walked through the doors.
Every package that was being returned was first delivered by some worker whose job it was to make deliveries. That all reminded me of Jesus. Jesus delivers to us many packages we never want to return like joy, peace, love, kindness etc. He also delivers us from many pitfalls like pride, selfishness, anger, etc. that we want to return to sender.
We know where fear, anger, selfishness, pride, judgmentalism, etc. come from.
Here is what we can do. We can ask Jesus to deliver us from whatever we know needs to be gotten rid of and send them back to where they came from in 2024. While I can physically take a package to a store and return it. I cannot get rid of sin in my life without the help of Jesus. He is our deliverer from sin and God’s anger.
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17 NIV
