A Good Night’s Sleep
It is so important to get a good night’s sleep. Our bodies need to rebuild themselves. One of the keys I have found is sleeping on a comfortable bed. I don’t like sleeping in hotel beds because they are not as comfortable as my own. Ever try sleeping on a plane, it is awful.
I wonder what the Apostle Paul’s bed was like when he spent two years in prison in Caesarea. I am sure he did not have one. No pillow, no comfortable blankets, no bed, and chains besides. How could he get comfortable enough to sleep?
There is more to getting a good night’s sleep than a comfortable bed. Our minds and hearts must be comfortable as well. Worry, doubts or fears can turn a comfortable bed into one that it is impossible to find rest in. Peace with God allowed Paul to find sleep, even on a dirt floor.
God wants us to know that in Him there is no reason to worry, doubt, or fear. We can always trust Him. He wants our souls to be at rest. God wants us to be totally comfortable, it matters to Him! He is our comfort. Rest securely in His embrace.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV
