It’s Free
Often when going down the road you see signs that reads, free kittens. How could you not stop and take one home. Kittens are so very cute. You can find free bikes, free couches, or free shelves. People give “stuff” away for free that they no longer want and has no value. Imagine if you were going down the road and you saw a sign that read 10 oz pure gold bars. There would be lines a mile long waiting to get their gold bar. Why, it’s free and has tremendous value.
God has a free gift worth far more than gold or diamonds, everlasting life with Him. In heaven even the streets are made of gold.
You would think people would be filling our churches to overflowing to learn how to get their free gift. Sad to say, they are not. What they are working so hard to obtain by sheer human effort, peace, joy, and contentment is free. Talk about being tricked by that sly salesman, Satan. He makes people work as slaves to get something they can never earn.
Heaven is not actually free. It cost Jesus His life. To purchase our free passage into heaven Jesus stepped up and voluntarily paid the price of entry. Thank you, Jesus. Have you accepted your gift or are you still trying to earn it. You will never earn enough merit points to purchase it. It’s priceless!
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8 NIV
