It’s Time to Prepare?
Over the years we have all taken many trips. Some have been short ones. Others have lasted a week, two weeks, a month, or years. The longest trip I took lasted four years to Kenya. The longer the trip and stay the more preparation that must go into it.
When I went to Kenya, I sold everything I owned except that which I needed to live in Kenya. Talk about downsizing. So, the first part of preparing was to get rid of all the “junk” I didn’t need. The second part of preparing to live there was buying items I would need but did not have.
When we become followers of Jesus we begin our preparations for the long trip to heaven. We need to get rid of all the “junk” in our lives. We won’t need anger, selfishness, pride or bitterness there. We will need peace, joy, contentment, love, hope, and kindness.
Are you a procrastinator when it comes to preparing for a long trip, a last-minute packer? Friends, may I suggest we all get ready to meet Jesus in heaven by starting to rid ourselves of all that junk still left in the closet and replace it with items we can use in heaven. Time to get serious about packing.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” Hebrews 12:1 NIV
