The Moment
There are certain moments in an individual’s life that can be recalled in an instant. For me they go back to when I was about three. For some strange reason I can remember, when I had polio, crawling around on the black and white tile floor in the doctor’s office chasing flies. Don’t ask me why I can remember that episode so vividly. Any ideas?
I think about the moment Jesus healed the man born blind. He put some mud on his eyes and told him to go wash the mud off and he would be able to see. I am sure that man will never forget the moment he was healed. He was blind and in an instant he could see.
Remember the paralyzed man let down through the roof that Jesus healed. Something else also happened to the man. Jesus forgave his sins. The guilt and the shame of past sins were wiped away in an instant. Not only was he free to walk, but his soul was freed. What joy he must have felt. That was a moment he never forgot.
Some moments defy description. There is a moment, yet future, we will never forget once it takes place. It is the moment our mortal bodies will be raised from the dead. They will be changed in an instant.
